Danica and Marc celebrate 10 years of wedded bliss
The marriages of celebrities are usually subject to change until further notice. Staying faithful amid all the temptations in the glitzy world of show biz is quite a challenge.
That’s why Danica Sotto and Marc Pingris have a lot of reasons to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.
The cool spouses renewed their vows to make their bond even stronger. After a decade and two kids, Danica and Marc are staying together for better, for worse—and for keeps.
Here’s my chat with Danica:
What made you and Marc decide to renew your vows on your 10th year? It was Marc’s idea. He said that it would feel good to look back at how far we’ve come after all the trials we have been through. After 10 years, our love remains rock-solid.

In a nutshell, what was your vow to Marc? I thanked him. I apologized for the times that I hurt his feelings. That I feel blessed because … he has such a generous heart.
How do you and Marc settle arguments? Even during a major fight, he never threatened to leave me.
Did your parents Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie’s separation make you strive harder to make your marriage work? Of course, my parents always say, “learn from our mistakes.” They told me that even if there is no perfect marriage, there are ways to avoid separation.
Were your parents awkward toward each other during your renewal of vows?
They were civil, but they didn’t talk to each other much because they were with their respective partners, and they were not [sitting] at the same table.
How’s your relationship with the new partners of your dad and mom? I’m very close to them; we have a good relationship. It was hard at first, but we all made the necessary adjustments.
What don’t people know about Marc? Basketball fans know him as the Pinoy Sakuragi. He’s tough on the court, but off the court, he has such a soft heart—pusong mamon.
He’s easy to please. Even if he had a hard life growing up, he never had a “victim mentality.” The trials made him stronger. That’s what I love about him.
What’s the best part of being the daughter of Vic and Dina? The best part is that I learned from their lives. They are not perfect, but I would never want to change my parents.
What’s the toughest part of being their daughter? Always being compared to them. Some taunt me that I will end up separated, just like my parents.
When I was younger, I got affected when people would say that my mom is prettier than I am, but when I became a mom and realized that my security should come from God, I became satisfied, and it didn’t affect me anymore. It’s hard when there are issues about my parents, and people would badger me for details.
