WATCH: Baby Groot takes spotlight in new Guardians of the Galaxy
In a pure display of selflessness, Vin Diesel’s “Groot” sacrificed himself to save the rest of his team in the first “Guardians of the the Galaxy” film in 2014.
The gut-wrenching scene made some viewers teary-eyed, but much to everyone’s delight, the extraterrestrial bipedal tree was reborn by the end of the film, albeit in a miniature form.
Groot’s toddler-like version received an ample amount of screen time in the recently released trailer for the sequel of Marvel’s unexpected gem.
As advertised, the two-minute clip featured the film’s most endearing qualities—plenty of action, humor and classic rock.
The trailer starts with Drax (played by Dave Bautista) aggressively leaping at an enormous alien creature, while Rocket Raccon (Bradley Cooper) hilariously gives baby Groot instructions not to push the “death button.”

A brief first look at the film was teased in October, but this latest installment features a more action-packed sneak peek at the entire gang’s misadventures, set to the ’70 soft-rock tune of Sweet’s “Fox on the Run.”

The film’s primary plot remains a mystery, but a Unilad report suggests that the heroes will be hunting down Star Lord’s father, Ego The Living Planet, played by Kurt Russell.
The movie is also suspected to delve into Marvel’s grandest film, the upcoming “Infinity War.”
