Santiago shows the way
Santiago City Mayor Amelita Navarro has been showing the way for other public officials in improving residents’ quality of life by assuring access to education, health care, employment opportunities, clean air, safe drinking water, and peace and order.
Navarro’s hard work paid off beautifully when her city was bestowed this year’s Presidential Award for the Most Child-Friendly City or Municipality at Malacañang Palace, through the Office of the President’s Council for the Welfare of Children, which annually recognizes the efforts of local government units and their executives to uphold children’s rights.
Santiago was also conferred the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi for its exemplary performance in governance, as well as for its programs, “Youth Servicing Youth” and “Leadership Transformation,” initiated by city administrator, Perla Buencamino.
And, the Seal of Good Housekeeping will be conferred this month on Santiago’s DILG Regional Office for good governance.
