Comebacking TV shows excite viewers

/ 12:07 AM July 30, 2016

IN THE ’70s, one of the TV shows we watched regularly was “Sesame Street.” We loved its combination of education and entertainment for really young viewers—despite the fact that we were already on the “wrong” side of our own childhood years at the time!

Our delight with the show was rewardingly sustained even as we continued to age—until, for some reason or other, it ceased to be available for viewing on local TV screens.

So, it was with whoop-de-doo happiness that we recently discovered that “Sesame Street” is again being telecast on local screens—courtesy of the new Yey! TV channel for kids, which is now on test broadcast.

We’re happy for ourself, but even more gratified for the many Pinoy kids who will now be able to learn from and delight in this wonderful “infotainment” show that has helped educate generations of children for decades throughout the learning world!
Even better, the “Sesame Street” telecasts on the Yey! channel don’t feel “old” at all. As ever, they are “plugged in” to what’s happening now, from children’s bright and optimistic perspective.

Furry and human friends

On hand are not just some furry and human friends of “old;” the 2016 edition fields new “teaching assistants” who similarly make learning fun. —Now, isn’t that the best combination?

We trust, therefore, that you will introduce your own children to “Sesame Street” on Yey! —And, who knows, you might have a great time watching the show with them, as well!

In addition, we hope that Yey! similarly brings back educational Filipino shows for kids, like “Batibot,” “ATBP,” “Kaluskos Musmos,” “Sineskwela,” “Hiraya Manawari,” “Bayani,” “Chikiting Patrol” and “5 and Up.”

Aside from kiddie shows, other TV programs we hope will be produced again this year on Yey!,Jeepney TV or elsewhere, include “Ryan, Ryan, Musikahan” and “Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata.”

Yes, these shows are available on replay on Jeepney TV, but new editions would make them much more topical and exciting.
The new “Ryan” show should be hosted by Mr. C (Ryan Cayabyab) again, and the 2016 “Abangan” would do well to have Tessie Tomas in charge of the pungent political satire!
