Personal grudge seen as motive in killing of Charice Pempengco’s father

MANILA, Philippines – Personal grudge was seen as motive in the killing of Ricky Pempengco, father of singer Charice Pempengco in Barangay (village) Laram, San Pedro, Laguna near midnight Monday, October 31, Senior Superintendent Kirby Kraft, San Pedro police chief, said in an interview on Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

Kraft identified Pempengco’s assailant as Angel Capili Sr., a long-time resident in the village who moved out five years ago, & returned Monday for a visit.

Quoting witnesses, Kraft said Capili was apparently slighted because Pempengco ignored his presence.

Kraft said Pempengco was buying cigarettes at a store when Capili attacked him.

Kraft said the police has launched a manhunt for Capili, who fled after stabbing Pempengco with an ice pick.
