VIRAL: Presidential bets as PBB housemates, Game of Thrones characters
If the political aspirants seeking the presidency in next year’s polls were housemates in the popular reality show Pinoy Big Brother, or perhaps characters in the hit US TV series Game of Thrones, who would you be rooting for?
Filipino netizens’ creative minds reimagined presidential hopefuls as fictional characters and potential reality TV contestants as their edited photos went viral on social media.
Facebook user Raphael E. Miguel, whose original photos have been shared by other pages, tagged administration bet Mar Roxas, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and Sen. Miriam Santiago as the “BIG 4.”
This was after Sen. Grace Poe was supposedly “evicted” from the race to Malacañang following the disqualification case rendered by the Commission on Elections’ 2nd division amid questions on her citizenship and residency.
The page labeled Roxas as “Mister Palengke ng Capiz,” Binay as “Bae-nay ng Makati,” Duterte as “Boy Astig ng Davao,” and Santiago as “Daldal Sweetheart ng Iloilo.”
As of writing, the viral post has garnered more than 12,000 reactions, 700 comments, and 11,000 shares.

The Liberal Party standard-bearer, who was often described as bland and boring, was likened to Stannis Baratheon, who “could do the job but does not inspire love or hope from the masses.”
Binay, who was facing corruption allegations, was Joffrey Baratheon with “no redeeming qualities,” while Poe, who repeatedly said she wanted to continue her father’s legacy, was Cersei Lannister, who “thinks she’s ready for leadership but everyone else doesn’t think so.”
The feisty Santiago was likened to Daenerys Targaryen, who was “always ranting about being the rightful ruler.”
