Asked what makes Pinoy hip-hop unique, and if it can penetrate the international scene, rapper Abra says:

“Regardless of the language and cultural differences, the skill set of Filipinos in writing poetry and music is just as superb—even if we use English or Filipino.

“I think we can be at par with international acts. But our music is still growing and evolving; we’re still getting there.

“What makes our music different is that we incorporate Filipino culture. We have a different kind of humor and we tackle issues only we can relate to.” Allan Policarpio
