MANILA, Philippines – RisingStars Philippines, the game-changing talent search for the next singing sensation, airs its second episode this Saturday, March 21, on TV5. Finalists from all across the country have been selected, and they’re all vying for a spot to become a rising musical star.

After months of scouting and screening talented singers through malls, barangays, and schools across 20 cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the hundreds of RisingStars hopefuls have been whittled down to the Top 29 during the regional finals. In the first four episodes these singers will go head to head for a coveted spot in the grand finals, and a shot closer to becoming the Philippines’ next rising musical sensation.

Hosts Ogie Alcasid and Venus Raj as well as jury members Nina, Jimmy Bondoc and Papa Jack and field host Mico Aytona have high hopes for RisingStars, particularly because of its very Pinoy concept. RisingStars is a karaoke mobile app available on the Android store. Filipinos aged 13 and up can audition without having to line up at the audition venues; all they have to do is download the app (or go to www.risingstars.asia), record their selfie video singing their chosen song, and submit their demo online.

The uniqueness of the competition’s format does not stop there. For those who missed the initial screenings or were not able to make the cut, RisingStars will be having “Challenge rounds” where they can send their demos through the app, with a chance to replace an existing finalist by singing their chosen song better.

Audiences are in for a showcase of voice, star quality and compelling personalities on Saturday’s premiere of RisingStars. From triple-threat beauties to inspirational survivors, to precocious pre-teens and even a pair of lady soldiers from the auditions held at the Philippine Army camp in Fort Bonifacio, the diversity and interesting stories alone ought to keep viewers tuned in.

RisingStars will air every Saturday from 10-11PM on TV5. For more contest details and updates, see posters, print ads, and log-on to the Rising Stars website (www.risingstars.ph), or follow social media updates via Facebook /risingstars.ph or Twitter @RisingStarsasia. ADVT
