PH films win at SalaMindanaw fest

“Te End of War”

Filipino films figured in the honor roll of the second SalaMindanaw International Film Festival. “The End of War,” directed by Cagayan de Oro’s Joe Bacus, won the Golden Durian Prize for best Mindanao short film. “Abakada ni Nanay,” a documentary by Zamboanga Sibugay’s Sarina Mejica, won the jury prize. Jow Zhi Wei’s “After the Winter,” from Singapore, Taiwan and France, bagged the Golden Durian for best Asian film. Special mention went to Aditya Ahmad’s “Sepatu Baru (On Stopping the Rain),” from Indonesia. Carl Joseph Papa won the PH Next Cinema Filmmaker of the Future Prize for “Ang Di Paglimot sa mga Alaala (The Unforgetting).” Bayani San Diego Jr.
