Not such dumdums, after all
When Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels first portrayed “below sea level” dolts and cretins in “Dumb and Dumber” decades ago, fans had a fun time plumbing the depths of stupidity with them, and the comedy flick became a “sleeper” (unexpected) hit.
After that, both stars went on to topbill a wide range of “more intelligent” films, so their “moronic” costarrer has receded in memory. But, hold your horses because, for a loony lark, Carrey and Daniels have gone back to their “spastic-slapstick” comic roots and shot the even more “stupid” sequel, “Dumb and Dumber To” (the misspelling is of course cheerfully intentional).
And, what do you know? It’s ended up as the top grosser of the week just ended, with a cool $30-million-plus income at the tills. They aren’t such dumdums, after all!
Contrasting views
Two different show biz news stories offer contrasting views of celebrities’ attitudes regarding sensuality and sexuality. On one hand, Cristine Reyes finally admits that she’s infanticipating. Contrastingly, Jewel Mische has gotten engaged, but she and her fiance have agreed to remain virgins until after their wedding. On both sides of the attitudinal gap revealed by these separate accounts, each star has her respective approvers and dissers.

Who would have thought it?

Yes, stars can be persuasive role models, but when it comes to important landmarks in our own lives, we have to be the stellar focus.
