SANTOS. Deserves a starmaking showcase.

Leo Balasabas, businessman: “There’s no doubt that GMA 7 artist Aicelle Santos is a great singer. I just wish that her home network features her in solo spot numbers, not just in boring ‘smorgasbord’ musical numbers on its musical variety show.

“She deserves a showcase fit for a star! She has also been seen in so-so supporting roles in TV soaps. It’s a shame to see less talented mortals given more important and attention-calling roles! She should also topbill solo concerts, perhaps in small venues, for starters.”

FEATURED STORIES

Rik Aaran, researcher: “Sharon Cuneta has declared that she will soon surprise all of   us. This was after her much publicized confession that she went through a midlife crisis. As a diehard Sharonian, I can’t wait for her career revival. She still has a lot to offer—and her loyal fans are dying to see her in bigger and better projects!”

Jose Mari Maycacayan, marketing consultant: “I like well-crafted television commercials. Currently, True Colors (Oishi), My Way (Nike Shoes) and J. Co Donuts’ fast-paced animation stand out. Marketers should consider consumers’ behavior in ad execution, because the youth are very much influenced by the commercials they see. Be responsible, advertisers!”

Irma Pascual, film student: “The people behind the screening of independent films, like Cinemalaya and Cinema One Originals, at UP’s Cine Adarna theater should be lauded for their effort in making those films accessible to students.

“Similarly, commercial theaters in malls are doing their share, albeit only during film festivals. Cineastes would be glad if SM or Robinsons malls could assign at least one theater in their cineplexes to screen local indies and award-winning films at a discounted price.”
