When stars are expecting
When an actress gains weight, she is immediately rumored to be infanticipating. And when an actress looks svelte, people instantly assume she had just terminated a pregnancy.
That’s the way gossip goes. I myself was not spared from pregnancy rumors when I got caught up in a controversial liaison dangereuse with Robin Padilla many headlines ago.
Actresses used to dread motherhood because it could be detrimental to their career. But these days, hot mamas abound in the biz.

I’m seven months pregnant now and it’s a baby girl. Luckily, I don’t have morning sickness. During my first month, I craved Hainanese chicken and Singapore chicken rice. (My boyfriend) Pat (Patrick Meneses) and I found out that I was pregnant while we were in Singapore. We are busy preparing for our baby’s arrival. We have not chosen a name yet. I’m due to give birth any day between Dec. 17 and Dec. 29.

I have a hilarious pregnancy story. When I first got pregnant, I had a yeast infection. I went to the drugstore and told the pharmacist that I had chlamydia and needed medicine. The pharmacist referred me to the manager. He told me to see my doctor first. When I went to my OB-Gyne, to my horror, I found out I used the wrong term in the drugstore. All I had was yeast infection, not chlamydia (a sexually transmitted disease). No wonder people gave me a strange look at the pharmacy.

I was pregnant with my firstborn, Antonia, in 2004. Every afternoon, she would kick in my tummy. But one rainy afternoon, she stopped kicking and moving. No activity at all. I panicked! Julius and I rushed to the High-Risk Pregnancy Unit. We monitored her heartbeat. It turned out Anya was just too lazy to be kicking around in my tummy because of the rainy weather.

When I was pregnant with my eldest son, I loved eating ginataan. I had whole-day sickness during my first trimester. I didn’t like to drink water,
which tasted metallic. The best part was I was spared the “mask of pregnancy” because my neck and underarms didn’t turn dark.
Lloydie slows down
Could it be true that John Lloyd Cruz is not too keen on doing teleseryes, sit-coms and other TV shows anymore?
Someone in his inner circle told me that Lloydie merely wanted to focus on movies.
An actor of his stature can afford not to be too visible on the boob tube. If he is missed on TV, his movies will become bigger blockbusters.
Scarcity is power, after all.
Ser Chief’s chow
The Chinese food served at the resto Wangfu (Tomas Morato corner Roces Ave., Quezon City) is as yummy as its owner, Kapamilya actor Richard Yap.
To celebrate its first anniversary, the restaurant is offering an eat-all-you-can dimsum treat for only P399. Promo will run until Oct. 31 (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.).
Who knows, you might end up dining next to Ser Chief? Now that would surely satisfy all your cravings.
