Celebrities pay tribute to dads on Father’s Day

MANILA, Philippines – What are the perks of being a celebrity dad or a celebrity’s dad? Well, for one thing, you get a Father’s Day shoutout that is read by thousands of Filipinos.

Local celebrities took to Twitter and Instagram on Sunday to greet their dads and husbands in time for Father’s Day.

A number of popular stars shared photos of their fathers or heart-warming messages of love.

Heading the pack was Gab Valenciano, son of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

The younger Valenciano, who has also carved a career as a dancer and an artist like his father, posted a video montage of their performances together. It included a clip of his now famous “Super Selfie” YouTube videos.

“Despite the endless bullying and hate from people, I grew up under a man who made me feel I was more than good enough and that I would make a difference by being myself,” he said in the accompanying post.

“My father, @therealgaryv. The man who taught me how to be at my best at any given situation, to love unconditionally, to always humble myself and to give all glory back to God. Over two decades of doing what we do…we have no plans of slowing down. Happy Father’s Day, Papa. Thank you for everything you have done for and with me. I love you so very much,” Gab added.

Meanwhile, KC Concepcion honored both her biological father, Gabby Concepcion, and her “father-figure of 17 years,” former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

KC, who had been estranged from her father for more than a decade, posted a photo of her and Gabby on Instagram with the caption, “Fathers just don’t know how BIG of a difference their presence, or their absence, can make in their children’s lives.”

Meanwhile, another photo showed KC with her mother Sharon Cuneta, siblings and the former senator.

Luis Manzano also posted a wacky photo of him and his dad Edu Manzano. Both were dressed like rock stars while filming a popular television commercial.

“Not everyone gets to post pictures like this with their dad. Happy Fathers Day, Daddyo,” he said.

Many fans expressed support for Lorna Tolentino who shared old photographs of the late Rudy Fernandez.

“Happy Father’s Day! We miss and love you so much,” she said.

Maxene Magalona was also sentimental on Father’s Day, posting a number of photos of the late Francis M.

“When you have someone you love in heaven, you have a little bit of heaven in your home. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads who are guiding and watching over us from heaven,” she said.

On the other hand, Mariel Rodriguez, who often shares photos of the food she cooks, posted a sneak peek of the breakfast plate she prepared for Robin Padilla – peanut butter, jelly, cinnamon and banana on paleo choco banana bread with turkey bacon.

“To the  #1  Papa  @robinhoodpadilla  (his children call him papa) happy father’s day everyday I know you give nothing but the best for your children,” she said in another post.
