MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) will oppose the bid of  Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo and Zimmer Raz’ bid to post bail for their temporary liberty.

Lee, Cornejo and Raz on Tuesday filed separate petitions for bail before the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 for their temporary liberty. The three, together with Ferdinand Guerrero and Jed Fernandez, are facing serious illegal detention case, a nonbailable offense, for mauling of actor/TV host Vhong Navarro.

“Asking for bail for their temporary liberty is their prerogative. Their lawyers know what to do. On the part of the prosecution, we also know what to do and I am sure they will oppose (the bail petition) because the prosecution believes that the case against them is strong,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Tuesday.
