‘Stretched’ dramatic scenes scored

Connie Merecido, televiewer: “An episode of ‘The Legal Wife’ showing Angel Locsin in pain, due to her discovery that her husband was cheating on her, seemed stretched. After a while, I felt more bored than sympathetic. In addition, it was peppered with too many flashbacks.”

Linda Catalan, office employee: “I saw Alex Gonzaga guest on an evening show to promote an upcoming TV program. She was asked questions related to it because she was one of its co-hosts—but, her answers were tentative and vague, and she had to ask people off-cam for details. She was obviously unprepared. Elder sister Toni should teach her a thing or two about professionalism.”
Characterization
Jonathan Mejia Jr., businessman: “Alwyn Uytingco is a joy to watch on ‘Beki Boxer.’ His gay characterization is believable and endearing, as opposed to the over-the-top portrayals that we usually see. Alwyn is at his best in dramatic scenes that turn comic, especially when he shifts from straight to gay. I hope more viewers will watch his teleserye and discover how good an actor he is.”
Irish Catapusan, housewife: “I miss watching musical shows on TV during weekends. We have quite a number of exceptional singers who can headline a program. Sharon Cuneta easily comes to mind. Sadly, her last musical show, which she cohosted with Ogie Alcasid, ended rather quickly. —A case of a good show airing on the wrong network? Another perfect musical host would be Lea Salonga.
“For our Sunday noontime musical shows, please feature perfromers who can really sing. Enough of those lip-synchers and out-of-tune performers! And please make them memorize their lyrics. It’s tiring to watch singers who have their eyes glued to teleprompters!”
