Two award-winning actresses may join TV5

/ 07:03 PM May 15, 2011

ARE VILMA Santos and Lorna Tolentino joining TV5 anytime soon? If so, the two award-winning actresses ought to do a project together. That’s what I call “two match” and a double delight.

‘Bagets’ guest?

Mayor Herbert Bautista was in high spirits when I saw him during his birthday celebration at the Quezon City City Hall.

“I’ve never been used to receiving gifts,” he said. “So on my birthday, I wanna be the one to give something to my constituents.”

FEATURED STORIES

Is his heart more into politics than show biz?

“I’d rather call it service than politics,” he said. “Aga (Muhlach)asked me if I would want to host a noontime show with him. I’m open to the idea as long as it does not get in the way of my duties as a mayor.”

What can he say about the revival of “Bagets,” which he was part of many fads ago? “It’s good to know that the movie we did years ago has made such an impact,” he said. “It merits a revival. I would love to be a guest on the show pero ’wag naman lolo ang role ko (laughs).”

How many kids does he have as of the last counting? “Let’s not go there (laughs). What’s important is I make sure to spend quality time with my kids.” Well done, Biste(a)k!

ABC show

If plans don’t miscarry, there might be a show called “ABC”. A for Aga, B for Bayani (Agbayani) and C for Cesar (Montano). Interesting combination! Let’s bet on that “alphabet!”

Hunt for Aunor

A dealer of a high-end brand of watch is hunting down Teri Aunor. “He issued bouncing checks for five watches worth P182,000,” the agent laments. “He doesn’t answer my calls. If he doesn’t settle matters, I will file estafa charges against him. He should be a good example to his constituents in Bataan.” Palabra de “aunor,” please!

Concert tour

Armida “Tita Midz” Siguion-Reyna is on a concert tour all over the United States. Titled “Aawitan Kita Sa Amerika,” the tour includes Bayang Barrios, Rachelle Gerodias, Bo Cerrudo, Richard Reynoso, Raul Montesa, Miguel Castro and Cris Villonco.

Lirio Vital, who first sang in the musical TV show when she was 14, joined the group when they landed in the United States. They have so far done four shows out of the scheduled hectic 12-concert tour, and audiences’ reactions have been overwhelmingly emotional.

Our kababayans are hungry for shows of this kind, where classic kundimans and contemporary Pilipino music are strung together to tell a story, an operetta of sorts.

“Aawitan Kita,” with its nationalistic bent, triggers homesickness in the displaced Filipino and leaves him teary-eyed and longing for more.

Missing piece

GMA 7 presents “Munting Heredera,” an inspiring new addition to its prime-time block (after “Captain Barbell” on GMA Telebabad). It tells of a grandmother’s search for the missing piece in her life, her “munting heredera.”

Portraying the lead character of Doña Anastacia, a self-made, widowed businesswoman, is revered veteran actress Gloria Romero. Asian Television Awards Best Actor Roderick Paulate takes on the important role of Manny, a closet homosexual math teacher whose yearning for a child pushes him to adopt one.
