Actor Matt Evans says his life changed dramatically when he married girlfriend Katrina Fariñas three months ago.

“My outlook in life became different,” the 25-year-old actor tells the Inquirer. “I admit I was a happy-go-lucky guy before. Now, I know my limitations. I am a husband and a father. My family is my priority.”

Matt entered show biz via the reality talent search “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition” in 2006. He played the title role of “Pedro Penduko” in 2007.

The actor says he has become “more dedicated” to his work. “But I don’t restrict myself and still make time to relax with my wife.”

Matt wed Katrina in civil rites. This was a year after he became the subject of news stories for allegedly beating up his former girlfriend, actress Johnelline Hickins. He denied the allegation but was imprisoned for a day. They have a 2-year-old daughter.

Matt recently appeared in the Mae Czarina Cruz rom-com, “Bride for Rent.” He is also in the cast of ABS-CBN’s drama series, “The Legal Wife.”

How supportive is your wife of your career?

I love that she prepares my baon to work every day. Ang sarap ng feeling!  I feel very blessed.

You seem to have gotten married in a rush. What happened?

Yes, it was a sudden decision. We figured, nothing would change if we got married—we were surprised to discover that our relationship improved after we did it. We had been living together for five months when I asked her to get married… she thought I was joking.

What were you thinking when you popped the question?

I suddenly felt it was the right time. It was not because I was depressed about my past relationship (it had been a year since that ended). I’ve totally moved on.

What convinced you that Katrina was the one for you?

She’s always been there for me. She was at my side when my career was in a slump. Now that it’s improving, she’s genuinely happy for me. She’s carrying my child now.  She’ll be on her fourth month soon.

Is everything all right now with your ex-girlfriend?

I’m hoping that the case will be settled this year. While we only talk through our lawyers, I have no problem seeing our daughter—and I do, as often as I can.
