Books: Water for Elephants

“I got the Kindle application on iPad and downloaded Sara Gruen’s ‘Water for Elephants.’ It’s so well-written. Gruen’s storytelling is mesmerizing, impeccable. She paints her characters, both man and beast, with rich colors and textures. It taught me empathy for animals and reminded me of the bestiality of human greed. I got it before finding out about the movie (starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson). In fact, I haven’t seen the film yet.” Text and photo by Bayani San Diego Jr.
