Gossip show has a change of heart

VENERACION. Has reinvented himself as a dramatic actor.

Enzo Ojos, graphic artist: “On TV5’s ‘Juicy,’ it’s fun to watch how the flamboyant Shalala reports the ‘Top 10 Express Pasabog’ and the way the other hosts deliver blind items and hints. When the discussions get out of hand, however, Mo Twister’s analytical and sensible approach pulls them back to balance.

“Does Cristy Fermin have an axe to grind against a TV network? Alex Gonzaga’s bubbly personality adds zest to the show, but she appears so conscious about her appearance. IC Mendoza always has reliable information, but his ‘advances’ on DJ Mo can be annoying.

“Lately, however, the anchors have become inconsistent. A couple of months ago, they had negative blind items about Nora Aunor, describing how badly she handled her life, her relationship with her fans, and how her children evaded her calls, knowing she would ask for money.

“The tirades ran continually—until a few days before she returned to the country and confirmed that she was going to do a miniseries for the network. The anchors now spoke highly of the actress. Suddenly, she was once again ‘Ang nag-iisang Superstar!’”

Susie Blanco, student: “Young actor and host, Matteo Guidicelli, can also be a successful balladeer. I’ve heard him sing on TV and he can give the likes of Christian Bautista and Eric Santos competition.”

Nydia Duran, retired teacher: “Ian Veneracion caught my attention in a recent episode of ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ in which he portrayed a two-timing pastor/husband. I last saw him act in action flicks, where he reminded me of the young Fernando Poe Jr.

“In his ‘MMK’ outing, Ian passed muster as a dramatic actor. Gone was his monotone speech pattern and tendency to sound bulol. TV networks should cast him in their future projects.”
