Relevant bills
Sen. Cynthia Villar impressed the crowd at Bulong Pulungan Sofitel when she spoke about wanting to head a department that relevantly addresses the concerns of OFWs. With 3,000 of them leaving daily, there are now about 12 million Pinoy workers around the world!
She says that there should be an agency whose job is to assist them when they leave and return. When they come home, they should undergo training to remain employable. The department would especially be useful in Mindanao, where fake recruiters prey on gullible and underage women.
Technology
In the field of agriculture, Villar intends to improve irrigation facilities for increased productivity—because she says that two-thirds of our population is into farming. We must use technology to package our food products, increase livelihood, and generate jobs.
Meanwhile, Marinduque Rep. Regina Ongsiako-Reyes has filed bills that aim to promote and protect biodiversity and the environment.
