Two Filipino films were shown at Bio Paradis, an independent art-house theater in Reykjavik, Iceland, to commemorate Philippine Independence Day on June 12. Joanna Arong’s short “Amihan” and Remton Siega Zuasola’s full-length feature “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” were presented by Filipino organizations in Iceland “to open a window into the Filipino soul and create a better communication platform between Icelanders and Filipinos (the third largest immigrant group in that European country).”

Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil’s “Boses” will be shown at the Riverside Studios in London on June 20. The premiere is part of the Philippine Independence Day celebration in the United Kingdom. Marfil and actor-violinist Coke Bolipata will attend the event organized with the support of Jamie Oakes, granddaughter of musician Julian Nakpil and Katipunan muse Gregoria de Jesus. A popular media and arts center, Riverside Studios is the former site of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).  “Boses” will be screened in SM Cinemas starting July 31.
