Discovery Kids Channel airs new animated, crafty series

MANILA, Philippines – Can an enthusiastic bunch of little inventors use the works of their fingers to make the neighbourhood a better place? The answer is yes! Discovery Kids’ new animated series CRAFTY KIDS CLUB serves up a big bowl of creative imagination. A gang of four kids aged seven to eight – Clara, Ben, Li Mei and Matt – who all live in the same neighbourhood, are united by the same insatiable passion for all things creative despite their unique personalities. Together, the savvy kids form the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB. When confronted with a series of little problems faced by their peers, parents or neighbours, the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB put on their creative caps and put together unexpected crafty solutions to everyday issues. Witness beautiful, useful and funny objects take shape from scratch as the kids share their inventions in each 30-minute episode of CRAFTY KIDS CLUB.

Get inspired with the 26-part animated arts and crafts series, premiering on Discovery Kids every weekday at 1:30 p.m., starting Thursday, June 13. Encores on weekends at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

CRAFTY KIDS CLUB is held to together by a shared desire to help the people that matter to the four kids. Clara, Ben, Li Mei and Matt are artists, inventors and dreamers who use their artistic imagination to create solutions that save the day with whatever materials they can scavenge. Each episode presents a new head-scratcher that they will attempt to solve – what can they do to improve the memory of an absent-minded friend who forgets his own birthday party? How will they create an ant race track for the world’s first ever ‘Insect Olympics’? As the kids think out of the craft box, they bounce all sorts of wacky ideas off each other, often with hilarious and unexpected results.

You don’t need a big budget or magical fingertips to create works of art – all you need is a good dose of inspiration from the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB. Viewers are also encouraged to get in on the action. In each episode, the crafty kids will demonstrate how to make the featured craft project, complete with step-by-step animated pictorial instructions and a list of materials needed. Join the kids in creating art with a heart on the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB, only on Discovery Kids:

Episode 2: Hugo’s Home Town

Episode 3: Finger Fighter Puppets

Hugo is going to put up a ‘Finger Puppet Wrestling Match’ show, but a problem pops up at the last minute – his finger puppets aren’t sturdy enough and tear easily. The CRAFTY KIDS CLUB comes together to help their friend and make him some super strong finger puppets out of old leather gloves, because the show must go on…

Episode 4: Revolutionary Robots

Tom is feeling blue because his brother spends all his time playing with the new ‘Annihilator’ robot, leaving him all alone. The CRAFTY KIDS CLUB has an idea to help Tom out – they’ll make a super robot for him so that both brothers can play together! The only problem is that the ‘Annihilator’ is pretty hard to beat! Clara and her friends are going to have to come up with a pretty crafty idea…

Episode 5: Space Cadet

The Crafty Kids have organised a surprise party for Luke’s birthday but their friend is a bit of an airhead and actually forgot to show up! Clara and her crafty friends end up making a special gift for him – a ‘Crafty Kid Reminder’ so Luke will never miss his friends’ birthdays, or even his own.

Episode 6: Head Full of Flowers

Miss Twist, the neighborhood spinster, has a little problem – she sprained her ankle while skydiving, and is now unable to water her olive trees. The CRAFTY KIDS CLUB offers to water her olive trees after school, but quickly find out that she has more than just a few trees. In fact, she has an entire olive orchard! The Crafty Kids are all worn out after just one day. Not to be defeated, they devise a watering system made from old plastic water bottles.

Episode 7: Cookie Chef Granny

On the first Saturday of every month, Clara bakes a cake of her own invention as an afternoon snack. However, her friends suggest that Lou’s grandmother do the job instead because her creations are much tastier. The only problem is that she’s always misplacing her kitchen utensils – once, she left her potato ricer in Lou’s backpack! As a special thank-you gift, the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB creates a ‘Kitchen Organiser’ that’ll help their favourite granny.

Episode 8: Butterfly Blues

Matt wants to impress Lila, who is crazy about butterflies. He tells her he has a butterfly collection at the workshop that includes a very rare species – the ‘Moustachioed Papillonus.’ Now Lila is dying to lay her eyes on it, but the problem is that Matt doesn’t have a single butterfly in his collection! Luckily his crafty friends are there to help, and together they create a lovely ‘Butterfly Box’ that is sure to amaze Lila.

Episode 9: Monster Nights

Winter is just around the corner and the days are growing shorter. Ben is afraid of the dark and starts going home earlier because he read about night monsters who take advantage of the darkness of winter to come out and eat little kids for supper. Gulp! The kids decide to help Ben overcome his fears through a fun crafts project: ‘Crafty Kid Monster Lanterns’.

Episode 10: The Amazing Ant Race

After secretly getting rid of Clara’s awful and inedible cakes, the CRAFTY KIDS CLUB discovers that the crumbs have lured an ant colony into the workshop.
