CHRISTOPHER de Leon has helped launched a number of female stars.

Christopher de Leon was in high spirits when we had a chat in Albay, where he was taping for TV 5’s coming sexy dramaserye, “Misibis Bay.”

“I‘m happy that, until now, I am very much around to help launch the careers of newcomers like Ritz Azul,” he said. “I’ve been at it since Sharon Cuneta’s launching movie (as a drama star). I cringe when I watch some of my old movies, especially when I see my weird outfits. It’s good that I’m not tied down to just one network. I enjoy working for all networks.

“When I have no TV project for a few months, I get uneasy. Work is already part of my system. Eventually, I’d like to direct, and maybe put up an acting school.”

FEATURED STORIES

Boyet was my childhood crush. He hasn’t lost his charm. In fact, he has become even more charming as he matures. They don’t make actors like him anymore. He’s truly a living “Classic!”

Daniel’s wish

Daniel Matsunaga is hoping against hope that he will be tapped by AKTV to host their coverage of the next Olympics in his home country, Brazil.

“I’ve sent feelers,” he reveals. “I think I will make a good host, since I speak Portuguese and I’m also into football.”

As for the game of love, he shrugs off rumors linking him to Kris Aquino. Does he have unsolicited advice for his ex, Heart Evangelista, and her BF Chiz Escudero, who are having problems with the former’s parents?

“Chiz is a smart guy,” Daniel points out. “I’m sure he knows the right thing to do.”

Daniel gamely plays along when ribbed by the entertainment press about having become so “Filipinized,” which shows even when there are no

cameras around.

NADINE Samonte gives boyfriend Boy Chua a kiss.

Still hopeful

I asked my BFF Cesar Montano if he was ready for the day when his estranged wife Sunshine Cruz would be linked to another man.

“It’s unthinkable,” he sighed. “I’d rather not anticipate that, because that would mean I’m giving up. I really still want to save our marriage. Hopefully, if she agrees to take a holiday with me, we can talk things over. The love will always be there. It’s really up to Shine if she’s willing to give me another chance or not.”

Love would hopefully be lovelier the nth time around for Shine and Buboy.

GENEVA and new love Lee in Bangkok

New loves

Geneva Cruz and Nadine Samonte have both found new loves. Their Instagram accounts tell the stories.

Gen posted pics of her Bangkok adventure with boyfriend Lee while Nadine’s pics with beau Boy Chua could pass for a romance movie poster.

A caption for one of Gen’s photos goes, “Anyone can say they love someone. It’s loving someone enough to let him go that will prove that love. I will miss the sweetest man in the world. Bye-bye Baby! See you in a few months.”

And Nadine’s caption:  “A best friend, a boyfriend and a true love… being in a relationship  isn’t about the kissing, dates or showing off. It’s about being with the person that makes you happy and who brings out the best in you.”
