Funny girl, after the storm

Out of the closet

MORE than a year after the “Ondoy” storm tragedy which destroyed most of her possessions, comedienne Janna Dominguez is on the road to recovery.

“When I saw flood rising up to my chest, all I could think about was the safety of my younger siblings. I didn’t think about saving my clothes or my Louis Vuittons,” Janna told Living Stars when we visited the family home in Antipolo, Rizal.

Janna—Jamie Anne Angeles in real life — recalled that when they fled to safer ground, she could only bring her wallet, piggy bank and a bag of rice.

The Angeleses were living in a two-story house in Pasig City when “Ondoy” ravaged Metro Manila in September 2009.

“I’m just starting to rebuild my wardrobe,” said the host of “May Tamang Balita” on GNTV 11.

JANNA likes shoes in bright colors and unique designs.

Bags

My Chanel clutches are “Ondoy” survivors. So is my Louis Vuitton (multi-colored monogram) bag, a gift from my stepmom for my 19th birthday. Look closely and you’ll see mud stains.

A recent purchase is the Birkin. I don’t get to use it much because I just bought a Hermes Her bag.

I got an H&M clutch during my trip to Japan last year. It reminds me of Harajuku Girls. The Calvin Klein postman bag is also a favorite. It’s perfect for out-of-town pictorials.

The fuchsia trolley in patent leather is also from Japan.

Shoes

I’m having a garage sale soon. The pair of high-heeled shoes from Aldo is also an “Ondoy” survivor. My current favorite pair is what I call my Lady Gaga shoes from Balenciaga.

The strapped heels from Louis Vuitton has a matching pair of rubber shoes, bag and wallet. I also have a pair of LV flats in fuchsia. They’re very comfortable.

I have two pairs of Tory Burch flats, which I bought in Singapore.

I like shoes in bright colors, like the turquoise pair from Ate Carmina’s (Villaroel) online store Muñiz.

The pair of heeled slip-ons from The Pleasure Place in Thailand is really unique because of the flower designs on the soles.

Clothes

I plan to sell all my “pre-Ondoy” clothes at the garage sale, but not the mini-dress from Balenciaga. It’s very sexy but can also be worn at semi-formal events. It reminds me of Angelina Jolie.

The empire-cut turquoise dress is memorable. I wore it when I was launched as one of the contenders in “Pinoy Fear Factor” 2008. The cocktail dress was what I wore at my sister’s debut party. It’s inspired by what Amy Adams wore in the movie, “Enchanted.”

I hardly wear pants, but the pair of skinny jeans from Acne is my favorite; it makes my legs look long.

Cosmetics

I’m just finishing up those that I was able to save from the flood. I use Mac’s Boy Girl for my eyebrows, Smash Box’s concealer and eyeliner and Maybeline’s mascara (Volume Expert).

I like the eye shadow palettes of Motives by Lauren Ridinger. Kim Kardasian uses them. I also go for the peach-colored blush of Cover Girl. I plan to buy some items from Nars because my friend, a makeup artist, said they look good on TV.

Books

I like “The Notebook” by Nicholas Sparks, “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho and “Artemis Fowl” by Eoin Colfer. I collect the “Twilight” series by Stephanie Meyer and “Blue Bloods” by Filipino writer Melissa de la Cruz. For a time I was obsessed with Bob Ong books. I also have a complete set of Manix Abrera’s Kiko Machine Comics. I think he’s a genius.

DVDs and CDs

GMA 7 recently released the DVD versions of “Endless Love” and “Pepito Manaloto” (where I’m a regular cast member), so I bought my own copies. Extremes ako — my favorites are “The Godfather” and the “Hell Raiser” series. I also like “The Book of Eli” and “Harold and Kumar.”

Scents

For formal events dapat sexy scent, so I use Bulgari Amethyst or Green Jade. For casual events or a trip to the mall, I just use colognes like Jo Malone’s nectarine blossom and honey scent.

SHE’S had this Polaroid for years.

I’m into men’s perfume, too. I like the smell of Bulgari Extreme and Creed. I think No. 3 by Dolce & Gabbana can be used by both sexes.

I also have Lancome’s Hypnose, and Viktor & Rolf, which I bought because of its cute bottle, and Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lover’s Fragrance, a souvenir from Japan.

Accessories

The bracelet with a heart locket was a Christmas gift from (actress-dancer) Rochelle Pangilinan.

HER HERMES timepieces for formal events

I’m really into watches. I buy them, like the Hermes pieces, as investments. My favorite brand is Glam Rock. I also have pieces from Philip Stein and Patek Philippe for formal occasions. Technomarine is perfect for the summer because it’s waterproof. I also like the cool designs of Tendence watches.

I bought a lot of swimsuits recently. I used them when we taped for “Pepito Manoloto” in Cebu for four days. I was also in the cast of “Bubble Gang” that went to La Union. (the summer special airs on GMA 7 in May) My favorite is the blue polka dot bikini that I got from The Ramp. It’s inspired by one of the bikinis Katy Perry wore in her videos.
