Jericho Reyes works for Calpine Corporation, the largest independent power provider in the US. Recently, he paid tribute to his mother, Eva Corazon Pagcaliwagan-Reyes, who succumbed to lung cancer last April 25. Eva has been a friend since high school.
Remembering his mom, Jericho said, “If the world were composed of people like her, it would be devoid of hatred and spite.
Immense joy
“We have received many expressions of condolence from the people whom my mother touched over the years. She was one of the few genuinely good people I know. She was capable of delivering and experiencing immense joy—she served as our light and bond.
“She was as devoted a wife to my dear father, Fred, as she was a selfless sister and a generous aunt—and an amazing friend. She celebrated my victories, comforted me in defeat, and pointed me in what was ultimately the right direction!
“It’s hard to be left behind—and it hurts. And admitting how hurt we are brings all of us together in honoring her. My mother taught us to be strong, and so we will be. We’ll be OK.”
