The show biz warrior in Eula Caballero

EULA Caballero wants to go indie.

Eula Caballero is off to greater heights as she topbills TV5’s fantaserye “Cassandra: Warrior Angel” with Eula Valdes which premieres in May. They portray mother and daughter separated by supernatural circumstances.

Despite being a newbie, the “Star Factor” winner’s acting resume already lists roles opposite show biz giants like Lorna Tolentino, Maricel Soriano, Christopher de Leon, Eddie Garcia and Nora Aunor—all of whom have nothing but praise for her.

Ooh la la, Eula!

How do you handle expectations of you as the next “It girl?”

I wasn’t told I was being groomed as such. I thought I was supposed to be more pang masa, because that’s who I am, simple lang. But I can adjust!

What surprised you most about show biz?

The friends I could make. I was overwhelmed! I never thought my BFFs could be stars from other stations. I even made friends with people 20 years older. I found a family at work, which made things easier. I always thought show biz was serious, in capital letters. Now I know it can be fun.

What’s the hardest to understand about show biz?

Trying to be calm and collected even when I’m hurting. It’s hard to rein in  your emotions but you don’t want to bring negative vibes to the set.

What was the worst intrigue about you?

That I was a playgirl because I got linked to one guy after another, some of whom I hadn’t met.

Would you stick with TV5 if a bigger offer from another network came along?

I can’t make promises. I love my craft and I will work hard every day to be better at it. I’d like to go places. TV5 is where I want to stay and grow at this point, the second of my five-year contract.

What’s your dream role; who’s your dream leading man?

I want unconventional roles—young mom, lesbian, even a sociopath! I want to try new and difficult things, not mainstream. I want to learn more, challenge myself. I’d love to work with JM de Guzman. He’s really good.

Tell us about your new show.

“Cassandra” is a sequel to “Third Eye,” with more action, more visuals. I have three leading men here.

What have you learned in the biz?

Respect everyone, and treat everyone as equals, even utility men. They work so hard, they deserve “please,” “thank you”—with a smile. When you’re given a project, put your best foot forward. The set is the place to be an achiever.

How do you handle heartbreak?

Vacations really help. New environments promote fresh starts.

What are you like when you’re in love?

I’m inspired to be beautiful, to discover new abilities. I also become a traveler.

What makes a man attractive?

A nice set of teeth, wearing a suit well, a positive attitude.

What’s your advice to young girls who join talent searches?

Be sure it is what you want. It requires much patience and hard work. If you’re sure, go for it! Believe in yourself even when you think nobody else does!

What’s your best asset?

My smile!

What’s your worst flaw?

I’m too honest. I really hate it when I unintentionally hurt someone by being too honest. Sometimes I think I’m tactless

Is there a rivalry between you and Ritz Azul?

I don’t think so. We have different talents, and we approach acting differently. I’m a huge fan of hers. She’s my girl crush! She knows that.

What do you want to tell your future self?

I will make you proud of how you became you. I’ll make you happy with whatever career I’m pursuing now. Keep your feet on the ground.
