Solons, top bands perform for ailing journalist today

A music-making group of congressmen will share center stage with two of the country’s best performing bands in a dance-and-musical concert today (Wednesday) at the Celebrity Plaza in Quezon City.

The Congress “Lousy Boys” will be the guest band invited to perform in the “On the Beat,” a benefit dinner-concert produced by members of the House of Representatives media.

Also invited to grace the occasion are top celebrities Representatives Manny Pacquiao (LP, Sarangani); Lucy Torres-Gomez (LP, Leyte) and Lani Mercado (Lakas-Kampi, Cavite).

Topbilled by the much sought-after The Bloomfields and Gabby Claudio’s electrifying The Double Vision, “On the Beat” promises to be a night of dance and live musical entertainment for Senate and House members and other guests who are sharing for the medical expenses of veteran newspaperman Raul Beltran, now battling cancer.

The Lousy Boys is comprised of young leaders of the country who hit it off with common political ideals and exceptional musical talent. The group is composed of Representatives Bem Noel (An Waray); Sonny Angara (LDP, Aurora) and Justin Chipeco (NP, Laguna), together with former Representatives Gilbert Remulla (NP, Cavite); Mujiv Hataman (Anak Mindanao) and Joel Villanueva (Cibac), now director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The Bloomfields—Rocky Collado, Lakan Hila, Louie Poco and Dino Pascual—amazed the entertainment circuit that noted how such young boys could display an incredible musical genius of playing good old ‘60’s music like they’ve been recorded by the top bands of the decade.

Aside from corporate and media concert performances, The Bloomfields can be caught Thursdays at The Establishment in the Fort, Taguig City.

Claudio, former presidential political adviser, heads the now in-demand The Double Vision. Since it started going professional, the group has dazzled young and elder audiences with their musical versatility and energetic stage presence.

It was formed in 2007 by Claudio and his twin brother Dr. Rafael Claudio, now chair of the Orthopedics Department of Medical City.
