Melizza Lizo: “I watched with interest an old film on TV which featured Rustom Padilla, Snooky Serna and Sunshine Cruz. Padilla’s performance was very compelling—he was hunky, handsome, caring, and thoughtful. He portrayed his role convincingly.
Revelation
“A few years later, the revelation of his gender orientation rocked the movie industry. Many were disappointed but he was the epitome of honesty and integrity. BB Gandanghari deserves plaudits. May he serve as a role model for others who lead a double life and continue to delude the Filipino audience.”
Other notes:
Nova Fajardo, housewife: “I’m a child of the ’70s and recall two good actors of that decade—Joseph Sytangco and Suzanne Gonzales. Sytangco appeared in some Brocka movies, while Gonzales played supporting roles in Danny Zialcita’s films. I hope directors and producers can help them stage a comeback!”
Allen Perez, student: “All is quiet on Charice’s front these days. Is it a case of too much, too soon? Everything was rosy until she fell out of David Foster’s stable of singers. Her stint as one of the judges of ‘X Factor,’ local edition, was less than stellar, too. She made a spectacle of herself with her wardrobe and hairstyle choices.
“But all is not lost. Why not resurrect her career here where she really belongs? She can star in her own TV musical or even act in a musical teleserye. There’s no denying that Charice can act.”
