Starlet’s dad reproaches TV reporter
PRETTY STARLET got upset because of a TV Reporter’s line of questioning. PS felt TR was a bit too inquisitive about a controversy involving Tempestuous Beauty.
PS reportedly complained to her dad, strict as a martial-law censor who promptly sought an audience with Network Big Boss. As a result, TR was threatened with “suspension,” should PS feel “badgered” again in future interviews.
Selective applause
Talk about awkward moments: The credits rolled at the end of a celebrity-filled film screening. As Hunky Actor’s name was flashed onscreen, the movie house fell silent. But as the name of costar, Reality Stud, came on, a hearty applause erupted.
RS, HA and their other costars, were present. Could RS have filled the venue with supporters? Not really. The critics’ consensus was, RS upstaged HA big time. RS showed real promise and acting skills; HA was a complete and utter dud.

Article continues after this advertisementSoon as the stormy skies cleared, the Centennial Airport was filled with stars racing out of town. Spotted in Terminal 2 were Jomari Yllana (heading to Palawan), Shalala (Iloilo) and Angel Aquino (Cebu).
Fans at the airport felt snubbed by one Haughty Starlet. Cute Partner was friendly, but HS was aloof. A fan who couldn’t contain her disappointment said, “Ang arte!”
Much ado about a jacket
Nora Aunor, Gma Films, Kapuso
Some Nora Aunor supporters felt slighted that the actress was made to wear a “Tween Academy: Class of 2012” jacket, to promote the GMA Films youth flick, when she visited the Kapuso station recently.
Perhaps they felt La Aunor should’ve been paid to endorse the movie… or she was too mature to wear a tweeners’ jacket?
As it is, La Aunor is now being chided in some quarters: Is she the principal of Tween Academy?
Phone-a-star
When Vilma Santos attended a big event at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, a young fan approached and asked the star to talk to his mother on the cell phone.
Ate Vi gingerly complied, but the fan’s mom was quite incredulous. “This is really Vilma Santos,” Ate Vi was heard saying.
The wrong reasons?
Surfing the Net we chanced upon a criticism of Tyra Banks’ getup for her appearance on the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. The article said the former supermodel turned heads “for all the wrong reasons,” in a skintight, age-inappropriate catsuit. On this page, see for yourself.
Top of the Talk Shows
For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (And why we are moved, if we are moved):
Ogie Alcasid on wife Regine Velasquez’ pregnancy: “Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng buntis na habang nakahiga, eh nakangiti. Feeling niya ako si Brad Pitt!” (Hormones. Smiley here.)
Mark Herras on rumors that he’s a junkie: “Para sa mga tsismoso, palit [na tayo] ng trabaho. Ako ’yung sa bahay lang at mang-iintriga, tapos kayo ’yung sumayaw at mag-taping araw-araw.” (Ay napikon.)
Jennylyn Mercado on ex, Patrick Garcia, as a dad: “Bago [siya] mag-taping dadaan muna kay Jazz [their son], yayakap at ki-kiss muna. Nakakatuwa kasi talagang makikita mo kung gaano niya kamahal ’yung bata at kung gaano siya ka-responsableng tatay.” (So, mabait na siya, ha?)
StarStruck alum Prince Stefan on rumors that he’s gay and will marry his male partner in New York: “Hello, bakit naman ako magpapakasal, ’di ba?” (Sounds like a maybe.)
Kylie Padilla’s message to rumored boyfriend Aljur Abrenica: “Salamat, salamat sa lahat. Palagi siyang andiyan kapag wala na akong makausap as a friend.” (A friend? E bakit nate-tense si Binoe?)
Shaina Magdayao on being swamped with negative rumors: “Masaya silang namimintas, so ibigay na natin sa kanila ’yung kaligayahan nila.” (Parang galit.)
Kim Chiu, asked if she’s entertaining suitors: “Andiyan lang naman sila!”
Erich Gonzales on her pact with Enchong Dee not to fall in love with each other: “Para sa ’kin parang hindi magwo-work kung paghahaluin ’yung love life saka trabaho. (Well, it never stopped anyone.)
Eugene Domingo, asked if she already has a love life: “Wala pa rin, pero I’m very, very happy!” (Atta girl.)
Mariel Rodriguez on little things she loves about husband Robin Padilla: “He always saves a fresh towel for me sa banyo!” (That is soooo sweet. No, seriously.)
Candy Pangilinan on lashing out at IC Mendoza: “I barked [up] the wrong tree… kaya ako nagso-sorry… I hope he finds it in his heart to accept my apology.” (The mom accepted the apology na, ’di ba?)
Rufa Mae Quinto, asked about her dream wedding destination: “Maghahanap muna ako ng destiny bago destination!” (Good answer.)
