Siblings in a band help kids like themselves
The few who have stumbled upon Absolute Play and the song “Beautiful Star” on YouTube and radio stations Jam 88.3 and Magic 89.9 must be wondering how the three members, all siblings, got the nerve to start a band.
Apparently, they got the love of music from their father, who wants to remain anonymous for now. He was a former guitarist, record producer, label owner and currently a band manager.
“They know what they want,” says their dad. “They write original songs and refuse to play covers.”
The music in “Beautiful Star,” about the wonders of the constellation, is alternative pop—understandably naive but very interesting in its rawness.
Absolute Play’s members are drummer Mato, 16; guitarist/songwriter Alto, 13; and lead singer Murielle, 11. They have not dropped out of school; in fact they enjoy both learning about the world and playing music, which has led them to do something noble.
They are helping street children through the campaign “Kids Helping Kids.” It has tied up with Little Hands Foundation, a group involved in values teaching and feeding programs.
