Society of Divine Word to air ‘7 Last Words’ on ABS-CBN
MANILA, Philippines—The Society of the Divine Word-Philippine Central Province will present the “Seven Last Words” on Good Friday at the Shrine of Jesus, the Divine Word at Christ the King Mission Seminary Compound on E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, New Manila, Quezon City.
The program produced by Mission Communications Foundations Inc. will be aired live on ABS-CBN Channel 2 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
The annual Lenten program focuses on the Seven Last Words of Jesus before He died on the Cross with this year’s overall theme: “Year of Faith.”
The program features SVD priests as preachers, lay people as sharers and guest singers who will provide inspirational numbers.
This year’s SVD preachers are: Rev. Fr. Edwin Fernandez, campus minister of Divine Word College, Vigan; Fr. Peter Coching, guest priest at Christ the King Parish, Green Meadows, Quezon City; Fr. Dante Venus, vice rector of Christ the King Mission Seminary and Philippine superior delegate; Fr. Ubaldus Djonda, Indonesian student priest assigned to East Timor; Fr. Efren de Guzman, former missionary in Angola and East Timor, now assigned to Tahanan ni Maria, Carmona, Cavite; Fr. Aris Martin, theology professor at Divine Word Seminary, Tagaytay City; and Fr. Pio Estepa, former mission secretary in Rome, presently professor at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and consultant for the Pontifical Council of Culture.
Lay sharers who will speak from personal experiences on the Seven Last Words are: Alex Tuble, personnel at Black Nazarene Basilica in Quiapo, Manila; Abigail Gaite, real estate broker; Angelina Casin, businesswoman; Rosalinda Cantoja-Veloria, entrepreneur from General Santos City; Roger-Fe Mangahas, members of Salt and Light for Christ Charismatic Community; Jomar Salumbides, full-time worker of Couples for Christ; Raymond del Rosario of Pag-ibig sa Dios Prayer Community.
