Five indie films from the Philippines will be screened at the third Southeast Asian Film Festival to be held at the Moving Image Gallery of the Singapore Art Museum from March 22 to April 14.
Included in the lineup are the documentary “Pureza: The Story of Negros Sugar” (by Jay Abella), and four features—“Florentina Hubaldo, CTE” (Lav Diaz), “Diablo” (Mes de Guzman), “The Obscured Histories and Silent Longings of Dagaluan’s Children” (Gutierrez Mangansakan II) and “Ang Nawawala” (Marie Jamora).
The fest aims to “showcase the best and most interesting cinematic works from the region.”
Meanwhile, Lawrence Fajardo’s Cinemalaya winner “Posas” will compete in the first Asean International Film Festival and Awards (Aiffa), according to producer Joji Alonso.
The festival, which will spotlight films from the region, will be held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, from March 28 to 30.
According to its site, the Aiffa “aims to draw attention and raise the profile of Asean films … [and] contribute toward the development of regional cinema, [by] providing a venue for filmmakers to showcase their works to a global audience.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
