LOS ANGELES— The son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal has pleaded not guilty to felony heroin possession two days after his arrest during a traffic stop.

Redmond O’Neal also entered a not guilty plea to a charge that he is a felon in illegal possession of a handgun.

O’Neal was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly failed to stop for a red light in Santa Monica and officers found heroin in the vehicle. A search of his apartment after the arrest uncovered a 9mm handgun.

O’Neal has a string of drug-related arrests and is on probation.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison says the 26-year-old is due in court on Aug. 24 for a probation violation hearing.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
