MANILA, Philippines—Controversial actor Baron Geisler confessed recently that he wants to become like hunk actor-athlete Derek Ramsay.

In his column, “Why Not?” INQUIRER Bandera entertainment editor Ervin Santiago revealed Geisler looks up to Ramsay like an older brother and he’s been a very good influence.

Baron said since he met Ramsay, many things have changed in his outlook in life.

“He’s really guiding me. I have nothing but good words for Kuya (Derek). No I don’t really call him Kuya, it’s still Derek but our attitude in the set, he’s like acting as my older brother,” Geisler said.  Kuya is Filipino term for older brother.

The two are part of TV 5’s newest primetime action-adventure series, “Kidlat” (Lightning).

“He guides me, he gives me advice, both in my career and personal life,” Geisler said.

Geisler added Ramsay advised him to take the risk in buying his own house, to “do something with your money. Not only spending for the easy-go-lucky life.”

Though recognized by peers and award-giving bodies as a very good actor, Geisler is also known for his bar brawls and brushes with the law, mostly related with women he allegedly harasses when he is “under-the-influence.”

His manager, Arnold Vegafria, recently told the media it was because Geisler has bi-polar disorder and occasionally misses taking his medicine.

Then again, there were reports that Geisler has a tendency to drink beyond his limit and usually loses control of himself.  In recent years, Geisler has been in and out of rehab centers to treat his alcoholism.

Besides acting, Ramsay is known as a model with a buff body of an athlete.  He is among the more active players of Frisbee in the country.  He is also a most sought-after endorser of various products and services related to a healthy lifestyle.

“It’s not hard to idolize Derek Ramsay because he’s so successful. He has a good career, a good heart, he’s a good person. So you know I wanna have what he has and I wanna be like him,” said Geisler. With a report from Totel V. de Jesus, INQUIRER.net
