If there’s one thing Jaclyn Jose learned from her latest squabble with daughter Andi Eigenmann, it’s to refrain from meddling in the latter’s love life. “Hindi na ako makikialam!” Jaclyn told reporters at a recent press con for the drama series “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,” which will air its last episode on Feb. 1.
Jaclyn incurred her daughter’s ire last October when she spilled the beans on the real score between Andi and boyfriend Jake Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada and Laarni Enriquez.
Jaclyn claimed that Jake’s parents were against their son dating someone who already had a child with another man. Andi has a one-year-old daughter, Ellie, with ex-boyfriend Albie Casiño.
The veteran actress said the only reason she said those things was that she was “hurt for my granddaughter.”
Defending Ellie
“I guess Andi really felt bad about the things I said. But I was just defending Ellie. I love her very much,” said Jaclyn. “If they don’t accept her—like her father didn’t accept her—kawawa siya. I will fight for her.”
Jaclyn continued: “Whoever Andi’s future suitor might be, he has to understand that if he really loves Andi, he will have to love and appreciate Ellie as well.”
Misunderstandings, Jaclyn pointed out, are just normal in any mother-daughter relationship. “We stay in one house and I love Andi very much,” she said. “We do have small fights, but we always kiss and make up.”
Asked if she and Andi had already reconciled, Jaclyn said: “We really had nothing to iron out. I’m her mother and she’s my daughter. No one made the first move to apologize; it was all about instincts. Everyone in the industry knows how much I love Andi and how much I spoiled her.”
Keeping mum
Even so, she admitted, Andi no longer shares as much love-related stuff with her as she used to.
Despite Jaclyn’s claim that everything’s now okay between her and Andi, a lighthearted but quite awkward situation during the press con suggested otherwise.
Looking at Andi, Jaclyn said, “I’m sure si Andi, hindi naman magagalit sa ’kin nang tagos. ‘Di ba, anak?” Seemingly lost for words, Andi smiled, picked up the mic and replied, a little inaudibly, “Yes, Ma!”
Laughter from the press filled the room.
