Scriptwriter Lynda Casimiro passed away on Jan. 12 after battling cancer. She was 63. Casimiro wrote Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s award-winning film “Lola,” which premiered in Venice in 2009. Venice fest consultant Paolo Bertolin wrote in Facebook: “Thanks to the profoundly human and sensitive writing of Casimiro … the characters so astoundingly embodied by (lead actresses) Anita Linda and Rustica Carpio became so real, touching and unforgettable.”—Bayani San Diego Jr.
