MANILA, Philippines — The much-touted Philippine premiere of “Les Miserables” Wednesday night was canceled due to “technical difficulties”, organizers of the event said in a statement.
“The scheduled by-invitation red carpet premiere of the movie Les Miserables was cancelled due to technical difficulties,” they said.
However, they assured guests who waited for over an hour for the movie to be shown that free replacement tickets would be issued.
“For any inconvenience caused, guests will be issued free replacement tickets to the regular screening of Les Miserables at Newport Cinemas from January 16-23,” they said.
At the premiere of “Les Miserables” at Resorts World, spotted were Brillante Ma. Mendoza, Leo Valdez, Bo Cerrudo, Victor Basa, Arnold Vegafria, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Nikki Coseteng, Liezl Martinez, JM Rodriguez, Markki Stroem, Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairman Eugenio Villareal, Miriam Quiambao, Quark Henares, and Boots Anson-Roa.
Also seen were Karylle, Christian Bautista, Cris Villongco, Audie Gemora, Carlo Orosa and Carla Guevara-Laforteza who performed songs from the movie accompanied by Ryan Cayabyab.
Wilson Tieng of Solar Entertainment, distributor of “Les Miserables”, Dong Alegre, Joel and Noel Trinidad, Dimples Romana and AJ Dee, Crystalle Henares, Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho were also in the house.
The showing of the film, which was set to start at 7:30 p.m. based on the invitation, was delayed for over an hour and a half due to technical problems before organizers decided to cancel it.
