Karylle was not disheartened at all when she didn’t land a part in “Miss Saigon.”
“I was happy to do one callback. It was a priceless experience, fun and frightening,” she said. “It’s like the closest I’d get to extreme sports. It was like a rollercoaster ride; I was dizzy for an hour after the audition.”
Even if she missed that opportunity, Karylle still has a lot going for her. “I’m proud to be part of an action-drama series in Singapore, ‘Point of Entry,’ which started airing last November 29 on Ch. 5 in SG,” she beamed. “I play the girlfriend of a criminal, Simon Ibarra. There are stars from Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Singapore in the cast.”
Asked about her experience working with a foreign crew, she said: “I was surprised at how small the crew was. We were just about 10 on the set—and only one camera. They are always punctual and we packed up early.”
Here comes Karylle, Lion City! Hear the Pinay roar!
Guess who?
How can a high-profile scion marry a celebrity bombshell when he still has unfinished business with his ex-wife? Is he dead set on getting a trophy wife in time for a major event next year? He knows that such a partner could be useful as well as ornamental!
A TV personality is fuming mad at a comedienne for sending her nasty messages, just because she happens to be close to the latter’s ex-boyfriend. Why take out her bitterness on the TV personality? That’s what excess love for an ex can do!
Dream come true
Chad Borja is in an ecstatic mood after jamming with jazz icons Dave Grusin and Lee Ritenour at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
“It was a dream come true for me,” he gushed. “They were happy I sang Lee’s hit, ‘Is It You,’ with them since they didn’t prepare any song with vocals. I wanted to sing ‘Dreamwalkin” and ‘Haunting Me,’ but Dave forgot how to play those classics already. Their dynamics as musicians are different. I could feel their sensitivity in playing their instruments.”
Chad is likewise excited about the release of his new album, which contains all-original Filipino songs. Since his bout with the Big C, the music in Chad has never been more alive.
Majestic win
Bravo to my darling Leo Valdez for his well-deserved win as best actor in a musical production (“The King and I”) at the 25th Aliw Awards.
But for me who’s been blessed to be close to Leo, I’ve always known what a winner he is in every way. With or without awards, I will forever be in awe of him. I’m mighty proud of you,
your Majesty. In my heart, I crown you every day.
Dubai show
I am super-excited to go back to Dubai with Wency Cornejo and my all-time fave band, True Faith. To all my readers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), please don’t miss their show, “A Perfect Christmas,” (presented by Eventologist Dubai) on December 14 at the Indian High School Football Field (Call 055-1079088). Thanks a mil to my angels in Dubai, Jonathan Gulmatico and Daisy Tayag, for making it happen.
What better way for our kababayan abroad to beat homesickness this holiday season than by enjoying real good Pinoy music? It would be the next best thing to coming home for Christmas.
