For weeks now, we’ve been trying to catch the new cooking show, “Del Monte Kitchenomics,” on GMA News TV, without much success. Last Tuesday, however, we finally caught the show at 6:40 p.m., and were pleased to see that its hosts, Jolina Magdangal and Luigi Muhlach, (his parents are Janice de Belen and Aga Muhlach) worked well with each other.
The show was only around 15 minutes long, but it efficiently taught viewers how to whip up a dish of chicken pastel (without the “pie” covering) and a side serving of yummy mashed potato.
The pleasant surprise was the natural way that chef Luigi went about his cooking demonstration. Some months ago, we had caught him being interviewed on TV on another topic, and he came across as laconic, ill at ease and rather troubled. Well, whatever disturbed him then has apparently ceased to be a problem, so hopes are high that Luigi will do well in his new role as TV chef.
Long spell
We recall that he used to be a member of the cast of a kiddie comedy show; since then, however, not much has been heard from him, so perhaps being funny is not (yet) his forte. The personable young man is doing much better on his new cooking show, so he should focus on being a chef on TV for a long spell.
In fact, he and Jolina are doing so well that we hope that their program, which is telecast twice a week, (Tuesdays and Thursdays) will soon be telecast for a more generous half an hour, so they can be of better service to viewers who love to cook—and eat!
Our long-range dream is that the day will come when Luigi and his mom, Janice, can host a unique mother-son cooking show, on top of Luigi’s new program and Janice’s own “Spoon” cook-and-chat fest!
What about dad Aga? —Hmm, he could be put in charge of the eating—and dishwashing?
