Lea Salonga’s historic Hollywood Walk of Fame star is ready for its official unveiling, as fans got a first glimpse of the milestone ahead of the main ceremony on Friday, Sept. 4.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame shared a photo of Salonga’s star on Instagram on Tuesday, Sept. 2, showing her name engraved on the familiar terrazzo-and-brass star along Hollywood Boulevard.
“Fans of Lea Salonga are invited to join us for her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony,” the organization said in the post, announcing that the ceremony will take place on Friday.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time at 6225 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the historic Pantages Theatre. Fans who cannot attend in person can watch the ceremony through the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s livestream.

Salonga will receive the 2,855th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Live Performance category, making her the first Filipina to receive a star on the famed Hollywood landmark.
Actress Ming-Na Wen, who provided the speaking voice of Mulan in Disney’s 1998 animated film, is among the guest speakers. Emmy Award-winning journalist Sibley Scoles will serve as master of ceremonies.
The Filipina singer rose to global fame as the original Kim in “Miss Saigon,” which earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, making her the first Asian woman to win the honor.
Salonga is also widely recognized as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in “Aladdin” and Fa Mulan in “Mulan” and “Mulan II.” Disney later named her a Disney Legend.
Following the Walk of Fame ceremony, Salonga will receive another major honor when the Manila International Film Festival presents her with its Icon Award during its closing-night gala on Sept. 6 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. /ra
