Rocco Nacino, risk-taker
Rocco Nacino doesn’t shy away from risks that would daunt other newcomers.
During a recent taping for the GMA 7 show, “A-Ha,” he almost drowned in a segment on water polo at the Rizal Stadium. “It was my first time to try the sport,” Rocco recalls. “It looked easy, but I had a hard time.” Retreating was out of the question, though. “Nothing beats experience,” he says.
Rocco the risk-taker simply couldn’t resist the role he played in the Cinemalaya entry, “Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa,” directed by Alvin Yapan: a ballet dancer with a secret longing for a classmate, portrayed by Paulo Avelino.
Rocco took three weeks of ballet classes with teacher Eli Jacinto. “Now I can dance modern jazz and ballet,” he says. This should help in his new GMA 7 dance drama, “Time of My Life.”
Also in the works are Yam Laranas’ horror film, “The Road,” and a comedy flick with director Soxie Topacio, “Marya at Petra sa Italya.”
“I have to prove I’m worthy of these breaks,” Rocco says.—Bayani San Diego Jr.
