Celebs’ take on Aquino’s SONA
As we all eagerly or anxiously await President Noynoy Aquino’s State of the Nation Address, I thought of asking some celebrities what the main thrust of their SONA would be if they were P-Noy.
Maybe it would be good for him to stop acting like he’s on auto-pilot, and his drumbeaters to stop making him seem holier-than-thou.
It is our only hope that P-Noy’s SONA this time around won’t turn into a “tSONAmi.”
Ogie Alcasid: “I believe the President must report on the gains and achievements of the first year, the areas where the government has fallen short and the important plans for the second year. These plans must further boost poverty alleviation and should encourage extensive nation-building.”
Janice de Belen: “My opening would be, ‘I am not a miracle worker!’ I would say that I know people are expecting a complete turnaround from the last regime, but I cannot solve everything immediately. I would need people’s support. We need to work together for progressive change.”
Direk Joey Reyes: “He should focus on what he has actually done, what he wants to accomplish and what is his vision for the country for the rest of his term. Oh, please spare us of blaming the blunders and abuses of the past dispensation. No solutions and resolutions can be achieved by blaming and complaining. It is time to stop talking and start working.”

Naysayers would have a field day criticizing my speech if it was big on promises. On a not-so-serious note, to help boost ratings and broaden my international appeal, I would announce that I’m marrying a Kardashian or one of the Olsen twins.”

Aiko Melendez: “Price hike, because if this will be addressed then everything will follow.”
