Why pop singer Janah Zaplan doesn’t mind hustling on Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is a time when many Filipinos are either preparing for the coming weeks’ routine hustle and bustle or extending their well-earned vacation. For Star Pop artist Janah Zaplan, she got right back into the groove even before the work week starts.
Zaplan was the closing performer at the opening of Chunk and Dunk at a Quezon City mall on Easter Sunday, where she sang a medley of Dua Lipa and Olivia Dean hits.
“I couldn’t say no to anything naman. Any [gig] for me is a blessing. And Easter Sunday means a new day, a new [opportunity] to rise,” she told Inquirer Entertainment after her performance.
Days before gracing the store’s opening, Zaplan shared on social media that Holy Week is a time of reflection after performing at a Good Friday worship service.
For her, it is a way to give back to God, especially with how much He helped her in her music career.
“My faith has helped me so much in a lot of ways, not just with my music but also with integrating my passion [into it]. I really need to have that faith in God, especially for my safety in everything I do,” she said. “I just feel blessed with everything that’s going on in my life.”
Since renewing her contract with Star Pop in 2025, Zaplan has been taking every gig that comes her way.
Her recent releases include “I Luv U,” “Pasko’y Nagbabalik,” and “Eh Ano Ngayon?!”
She is also a pilot-in-training, hoping to take her dreams of soaring into the skies one flight at a time.
“I am so overwhelmed with everything that’s going on, and I’m so happy that God gives me good things in my life. I just want to add that if it weren’t for my parents, I wouldn’t be where I am,” she said, noting that being busy has been a blessing for her.
“I can say na minsan nakakapagod talaga, but when you’re passionate, and you love what you do, it’s still going to be worth it. It’s okay to be tired and to rest, but as long as you’re doing what you like to do in life, you’ll have that motivation to get up and show yourself onstage,” she continued.
As Zaplan continues to balance her music and pilot career, she wants to be an inspiration to dreamers who feel they’re not at their peak and to those who feel guilty about pursuing their dreams.
“I’m not perfect, I’m not really the best of all the singers out there, but what I can guarantee is that I want to inspire people with my songs. I [also] want to make people feel what I feel, especially in [reminding] them that it’s okay to be selfish and it’s for their betterment, self-growth, and self-development,” she said.
“[Through my songs], I want to remind them to put their best effort in themselves, kasi tama na ‘yung ibang tao. It’s time to give back to themselves,” she further added, while wearing a bright smile.
