Vilma’s age-defying secret

VILMA Santos

Birthday girl Vilma Santos doesn’t seem to get older. She only gets better. I see in her the woman I want to be. Even if she grew up in the biz, the system never got to her. Her heart remains pure. Amid all the show-biz kaplastikan, her sincerity is very much felt. Kindness is a gift she was born with.

How did you spend your birthday (Nov. 3)?

In Hong Kong with my family, for five days. Today, I will have an extended celebration with my bigger family in the Batangas capitol.

What’s your birthday gift to yourself?

No need for gifts. I just thank God for all the blessings, especially for loyal friends.

What was your most unforgettable birthday?

When I celebrated it for the first time as a mother. And the year my Papa died only three days after my birthday.

What was the best birthday surprise/treat you ever got?

I always enjoy the asaltos my loved ones/supporters prepare for me. I pretend to be surprised and then I’m the one who tells them, “Go ahead and bring out the food and cake already.”

What’s the most important lesson you learned through all the November 3rds of your life?

Age doesn’t matter. What’s important is what you have done in your life that has positive effects on your family as you grow old gracefully.

Danita vs Mike

DANITA Paner

Danita Paner is fuming mad at news anchor/lawyer Mike Templo. She plans to file charges against him. The lawyer in him better be ready. Danita’s story:

“I was having dinner in Ortigas with some friends. We invited a friend from TV5 marketing to join us. He came with Mike Templo, who wasn’t invited because we’re not close to him. He was drunk as hell. I wasn’t even talking to him. He asked me twice: ‘Where did you come from?’ Then he poked my right leg. My guy friend told him to stop it because I felt offended. But he held my legs with both hands and asked, ‘Why? Why?’ That’s when I walked out. My friends who stayed behind told me he kept blabbering. I was the one who felt violated and yet he had the nerve to be mad. My guy friend and he had a heated argument. My friend wanted to punch him, but he restrained himself.”

In the spirit of fairness, I will get Mike’s side. Hopefully, cooler heads will intervene. Apres tout, Danita and Mike are from the same home network, TV5. They should keep the true spirit of being a “Kapatid.”

Too cute for words

After watching “Suddenly It’s Magic” (which we graded B at the Cinema Evaluation Board), Mario Maurer is now officially my new crush. His boyish charms kind of remind me of the late Rico Yan. The Thai sensation is too cute for words especially when he delivers his Tagalog lines in the movie.

The film made me feel like I was a giddy schoolgirl all over again. My fave line in the movie goes: “In choosing between the life you love and the love of your life, you might end up hating both.” Ahh! Mario is a modern-day Romeo. Let’s have more of Maurer!

Personal: Birthday cheers to my dear friend through thick and thin, sick and sin, chef Joy de la Rosa.
