Gee Canlas confirms breakup with Archie Alemania: ‘I should’ve left earlier’

Gee Canlas confirmed that she and her husband Archie Alemania have ended their relationship for good, weeks after declaring that she is a “solo parent.”

Canlas opened up about ending her relationship with Alemania on the March 3 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” when asked whether she and Alemania are no longer together. 

“Yes po. It was definitely confirmed that we’re not together anymore, but that was not a decision I took lightly. It was something na ginawa na lang or nag-decide na lang gan’un,” she said.

Canlas added that the decision came to “weighing what matters” most in her life, noting that she has always dreamed of having a family. 

“[It’s] very hard kasi pangarap ko po talaga magka-family. That was my life na. For me to weigh that and move forward and put an end to that, it’s something that I’m still processing till today,” she said.

At some point during the interview, Canlas became emotional when she admitted she regretted not ending their relationship sooner, saying she had lost how “goofy and colorful” she is as a person.

“To me, you get into a relationship, you get married, you have kids, and parang ano na ‘yun, parang okay na. I’m in the process of accepting and ‘yung galit, being human you are, I’ll be fake if I tell you if hindi ako nakaramdam,” she said. 

“But now, it’s more of wala na eh. I should’ve left earlier, I should’ve listened to myself [noong] feeling ko nauubos na [ko]… I’m a very colorful person, I’m a goofy person, the years parang nawala,” she continued.

(To me, you get into a relationship, you get married, you have kids, and you thought that things would be okay. I’m in the process of accepting, and as human as you are, I’ll be fake if I tell you I don’t feel anything. But now, I don’t feel anything anymore. I should’ve left earlier, I should’ve listened to myself when I’m feeling empty. I’m a very colorful and goofy person, but I lost that part of myself through the years.)

When asked about her regrets, Canlas confessed that she should’ve known when to end their relationship for good. Looking back, it probably had to do with her being scared of breaking up with Alemania, as she didn’t trust God.

“If there’s one thing, it’s not having a family, it’s not being married, it’s knowing when I should’ve stopped, when I should’ve left. I was scared. Sinong gusto n’un? I was scared kasi hindi ko tina-trust so God… I should’ve trusted God more,” she said.

Canlas and Alemania sparked breakup rumors after the former seemingly confirmed that she is now a single parent last February.

Neither of them directly spoke about their marriage going sour; however, the latter was found guilty of acts of lasciviousness in a complaint filed against him by Rita Daniela. 

The couple tied the knot in October 2018. They have one son together named Caleb.
