LOOK: Alden Richards recognized as 2025 Most Valuable Taxpayer
Alden Richards was recognized as the Most Valuable Taxpayer for 2025 during the 2026 Tax Campaign Kick-off of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The ceremony was held at the Jose Rizal Coliseum in Calamba, Laguna, where Richards delivered a speech emphasizing civic responsibility and nation-building, as shown in the video shared by GMA Sparkle Artist Center on Instagram on Saturday, Feb. 28.
“I’m deeply humbled and grateful to be recognized as one of your most valuable taxpayers of 2025. This award is not just a personal achievement but actually a reminder of our shared responsibility bilang mamamayan ng ating bansa (as citizens of our country),” Richards said in his speech.
The actor underscored the importance of tax compliance, as it is a “commitment to nation-building.”
Richards also acknowledged the responsibility that comes with having a wider reach as a celebrity.
“As a public figure, I understand that influence comes with responsibility. I hope that through this recognition, more individuals, especially those in the private sector and the entertainment industry, will be encouraged to fulfill their tax obligations faithfully and transparently,” he expressed.

“Being a responsible taxpayer is something we should all take pride in. Dapat po nating ipagmalaki ang pagiging taxpayer,” he continued. “Paalala ko lamang po, magbayad tayo ng tamang buwis; at higit sa lahat, magbayad tayo sa tamang oras.”
In previous years, the BIR has also recognized several Filipino entertainers for exemplary tax compliance, including Vice Ganda, Kim Chiu, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
Last year, Richards celebrated his 15th year in the entertainment industry by giving back to communities in a “care-avan” outreach visit, stopping by a disability center, a hospital and an animal shelter last December.
After he headlined the blockbuster “Hello, Love, Again” opposite Kathryn Bernardo, Richards is set to star and co- produce the international action film “Big Tiger,” in which he will portray a villain role for the first time. /ra
