‘Final Destination’ producers find new horror offering in ‘Whistle’

The producers behind the hit film franchise “Final Destination” are backing a new supernatural horror film titled “Whistle,” starring Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) star Dafne Keen. 

The film comes from the same company that released “Final Destination” 1, 2, 3 and 4, and is directed by Corin Hardy, who previously helmed the gothic supernatural horror “The Nun.” 

Set for nationwide release on Feb. 18, “Whistle” follows a misfit group of high school students who stumble upon a cursed artifact — an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. After blowing the instrument, they realize the sound summons their future deaths.

Soon, each of the teens begins experiencing visions of their own violent death. As the premonitions start to unfold, the group races to uncover the origins of the artifact in a desperate attempt to stop the chain of events that will claim their lives.

Aside from Keen, the film also stars Sophie Nélisse, Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley and Nick Frost.

In an interview with Comicbook, Keen said that starring in the Marvel films “Logan” and “Deadpool & Wolverine” helped her prepare for her role in “Whistle.”

The film has been rated R-16 by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) without cuts. /ra
