Matti returns with ‘Tiktik’

DANTES. Topbills ‘aswang’ chiller.

After seven years, director Erik Matti is back with “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles,” which was shot in green-screen technology and designed with computer-generated images.

The film tackles aswang folklore, wherein a bloody confrontation between humans and the dead commences in a village.

Green walls

Prior to the shoot, scenic designs were shown to the actors because, on the set, all they saw were green walls. They stayed in the studio for 28 shooting days. The director says, “We showed them the design of the aswang village. Madugo s’ya. If we weren’t working with veteran actors, we wouldn’t finish it on time!”

He praises Dingdong Dantes’ work ethic: “We all know that Dingdong is a star. But, if you watch the movie, he proves that he can be part of an ensemble—hindi s’ya pabida.”

Erik adds, “Si Lovi Poe naman, she’s grounded. She knows how to show respect. She mingles with her co-actors, alam n’ya paano makibagay. I think people coming from a lineage of celebrities, gaya ng mga anak nina Dolphy, Erap and FPJ, they know how to say good morning. Ang mga baguhan, hindi ganyan.”

The film also stars Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, Ramon Bautista and Roi Vinzon.
