Christian Bautista and Karylle face new challenges as they topbill the first Pan-Asian musical drama series, “The Kitchen Musical.” The pricey franchise mixes drama, pop music, dance and mouth-watering recipes and will be served in 13 one-hour episodes revolving around the exciting world of the culinary arts.
It tells the story of rich, young Maddie (Karylle), a fresh graduate of a culinary school in Paris, who embarks on an exciting journey when she starts working at her father’s restaurant, the Avilon. She struggles to create her own individuality in the kitchen.
Cooks
Christian portrays Daniel, a childhood friend cum chef. Joseph “Thou” Reyes is one of the cooks. Also in the cast are New York-based Arthur Acuña and Ikey Anoy, a founding member of the Akafellas.
The cast leaves for Singapore to undergo training at a food boot camp before production starts. The series will be launched in the Philippines on Studio 23 and in 19 other countries across Asia in October.
On the local theater front, Atlantis Productions has found its Prince Eric for its staging of Disney’s Broadway musical, “The Little Mermaid”: Erik Santos makes his theater debut as the prince in Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale. The production also marks the first time for Rachelle Ann Go to appear in a stage musical—as the well-loved Ariel.
