MMFF 2025 entries earn ‘PG,’ ‘G’ ratings from MTRCB

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) unveiled the ratings of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film entries, majority of which earned “G” (General Audiences) and “PG” (Parental Guidance) ratings.
The review of the MMFF 2025 entries was completed by the government agency on Thursday, Dec. 11, two weeks before the films will be released in cinemas on Christmas day.
The Sigrid Bernardo-helmed “I’m Perfect,” which tells the story of adults diagnosed with Down Syndrome, received a G rating. Written by Bernardo in 2009, the film stars Earl Amaba and Anne Go.
“Bar Boys: After School” — starring Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, Kean Cipriano, Odette Khan, and Will Ashley — earned a PG rating. It is the sequel of the 2017 film “Bar Boys” with Aquino, Nacino, Pineda, and Cipriano as the leads.
Also receiving a PG rating are Jade Castro’s “Rekonek” and Mae Cruz Alviar’s “Love You So Bad,” where children under 13 can watch the film as long as they’re accompanied by parents or guardians.
The Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre-led “Call Me Mother” — which centers on the clash between a beauty queen and a pageant coach — earned the PG rating from the MTRCB as well.
Piolo Pascual and Enrique Gil’s crime thriller “Manila’s Finest” was also given a PG rating. Set in the 1960s, the Raymond Red-helmed film revolves around a group of police officers caught in a power struggle.
“Unmarry,” starring Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo as the leads, received a PG rating as well. It is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and produced under Quantum Films and CineKo Film.
The sole MMFF 2025 entry to receive a PG-13 rating is “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins,” which follows a chain of haunting events in three separate timelines. It stars Richard Gutierrez, Carla Abellana, Ivana Alawi, Manilyn Reynes, Francine Diaz, and Seth Fedelin, to name a few.
Following the release of the MMFF 2025 ratings, chairperson and CEO Diorella “Lala” Sotto hopes that the public will support this year’s iteration of the film festival.
“This is a testament to our dedication and strong support for local films by providing age-appropriate ratings. MMFF is not just a festival, it is a celebration of the creativity, heart and value of Filipino storytelling,” she said.
“I encourage everyone to support all MMFF entries and celebrate the creativity of our filmmakers. Sama-sama po nating ipagdiwang ang galing ng pelikulang Pilipino,” she continued. /edv
